The wellbeing of our pets starts with our awareness.
With this website I hope to contribute to this.

My name is Francien van Bruggen - van Steenbergen.
Per October 2007 I have completed the Bach Flower Remedy Animal Practitioner Course (BFRAP). This is, till date, the only course organised and acknowledged by the Edward Bach Centre for treating animals with Bach Flower Remedies. Parallel to this I started a learning path about Animal Behaviour at the NAC in the UK.

As there are so many questions about Bach Flower Remedies with regard to animals, and so much contradicting and incorrect information on the internet and fora, I have decided to make this website to provide you with general information.
From my own experience I know how desperate you can be in the search for help when things are not going well with your pet and I feel it is very important that you should know what to expect from Bach Flower Remedies advise for animals.

I see sow much well intended information on internet and fora, but because something works with your pet does not mean that specific remedy, training etc will standard apply to other animals and their individual situation.
To effectively and truly help your animal it is important to analyse what is going on with that individual.

Medical
Pain and illness often cause or play a role in behavioural problems, it remains the first thing to address!

The ability to maintain Emotional Balance
Each animal has its own history and development in this respect. This is the reason why there are no standard premixed treatment bottles. For example fear of humans. The animal could have developed this as it was never properly habituated to people, or has been forced to accept people instead of acceptance by building trust and positive experiences, the animal may have had traumatic experiences with people, or for instance have fear or insecurity issues about far more things than only dealing with humans and the issue is far wider than just the fear of humans, etc.

Natural behaviour and needs
It is important that we learn about the natural behaviour and needs of our animal, and what that could mean with regard to for instance the expectations we have from them in our living environment. How realistic is it to choose a hunting dog and to expect it to remain quietly indoors with the exception of a 3x day walk of 10 minutes? How realistic is it to expect a territorial animal such as the cat to immediately love that new strange kitten, just because we think a kitten is so loveable.

This website is frequently updated with information and articles to contribute to the path of awareness and with that the well-being of our pets.
